Activation occurs when the device ships
In order to make the installation process as easy as possible and hassle-free right out-of-the-box, the device needs to be activated before it gets to you. This is to ensure no delay in service when you receive your device.
You will still have your full allotment for the first month, only over a shorter period of time. Once your first month ends, you will receive a fresh allotment of data.
