How to use a dual SIM card phone

This information applies to Premium SIM cards

What is a Dual SIM phone?

A Dual SIM phone is a smartphone device that allows the use of two different SIM cards at the same time. This means you can have a phone number and cell phone service from one provider (like FreedomPop), and a second phone number and service from a different provider, on the same phone.

The first or Primary SIM card slot uses cellular service for calling and texting as well as data services for an internet connection (browsing the website, downloading applications and more). The second SIM card slot only uses cellular service for calling and texting. You cannot use the data portion of your plan if you put a SIM card in the second slot.

Does FreedomPop support Dual SIM phones?

FreedomPop Supports Dual SIM card phones. Make sure to enable APN network settings if you're using the FreedomPop SIM card in the Primary SIM card slot (the 1st SIM card slot), because these settings are required for your phone to receive an internet connection.

Whether the FreedomPop SIM card is inserted into the first or the second SIM card slot, you must place a phone call when you first begin using your FreedomPop service, to complete setup. Click here to learn more.

Ask me every time which SIM to make the call from

Unfortunately, we currently do not support that feature. Choosing "Always Ask" on outgoing calls from your phone settings, will lead to unexpected behavior by the FreedomPop Messaging app. Please always choose a default SIM for calling.

Does FreedomPop support Dual SIM phones?

FreedomPop supports dual SIM devices by using the system settings for call preferences. Our application will route calls with your FreedomPop phone number if the FreedomPop SIM is set as the preferred option for making calls. Incoming calls to FreedomPop number will be managed the same way as single SIM devices.

The phone still needs to be GSM unlocked running the required OS: Android 4.0+ or iOS 7.0+.
