Setting up your Target, Walmart or Best Buy SIM card

The serial number on your SIM card (called the ICCID number) begins with 89014


FreedomPop sells Premium SIM cards in retail stores like Target and Best Buy. The ICCID (serial number) for Premium SIM cards with native cellular voice services begins with ‘89014’. Check the back of the SIM card package if you’re not sure which SIM card type your purchasing.

When you purchase a SIM card from a retail store, you have two options:

  1. Purchase a SIM card without an attached plan, and add a plan later (Starter Kit)
  2. Purchase a SIM card with an attached plan (Pre-Loaded)

We sell SIM cards with quarterly (3 month) plan terms. This means, every 3 months you’ll receive a charge for your plan, but rest assured you’ll receive a new allotment of minutes, texts messages and data added to your account on a monthly basis.

 

SIM cards without an attached plan

These SIM cards are called Starter Kits.

When you purchase a SIM card without an attached plan, you’ll need to activate the SIM card later, by going to freedompop.com/activate. You’ll need to add credit card information to the account and select a plan. When your billing cycle renews, you will be charged for your plan automatically, and your service will continue.

 

SIM cards with a plan attached

When you purchase a SIM with an attached plan, you’ll activate the SIM card after you receive it in the mail, by going to freedompop.com/activate. You will not be asked for payment details at this time and your SIM card’s plan will be detected automatically. When your billing cycle ends you will need to log into your account at freedompop.com/my-lines and add payment details to the account. Then, you can renew your line manually, by making a payment for your next 3 months of service.

This determines when you’ll receive a charge for your plan, but rest assured you’ll receive a new allotment of minutes, texts messages and data added to your account on a monthly basis.

At this time, you’ll need to add credit card information to the account and select a plan. When your billing cycle renews, you will be charged for your plan automatically, and your service will continue.

When you purchase a SIM with an attached plan, you’ll activate the SIM after you receive it in the mail, by going to http://ott.freedompop.com/activate. You will not be asked for card details at this time and your SIM card’s plan will be detected automatically. When your billing cycle ends you will need to log into your account at my.freedompop.com and add payment details to the account. Then, you can renew your line manually, by making a payment for your next 1, 3,6, or 12 month plan.

Returns and Exchanges

Returns are handled by the retailer where your SIM card was purchased. Unfortunately, FreedomPop customer service cannot assist you with a SIM card purchased from Target, Best Buy or another location.
