Messaging app not working - cannot contact server error

My number is XXX-XXX-1903 and I have the annual unlimited calls/texts 5gb data per month plan. First my sms messages started disappearing over the weekend and then suddenly the app stopped working overnight. When I booted my phone today the app no longer works and cannot contact the server.
