Cannot register for service on old sim

Hello, I'm experiencing a problem similar to https://support.freedompop.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360044016754-App-not-working?input_string=%22Registering%20for%20push%20notifications%22%20Completed on the old sim. Whenever I try to open the messaging app, it gets stuck on "Registering for Push Notifications" and I cannot access my texts. Thanks.
