Coming back to Freedompop after forced Ting switch

I had an account but was forced to switch to Ting. When I went to see plan rates on freedompop, it said "This account no longer works with FreedomPop. Ting has an exclusive deal to save your number. More info in your email or ting.com/freedompop".
If I wanted to start a new account with freedompop, would that be possible and if so, what would I need to do. My new phone is unlocked GSM with 2 IMEIs: 1 used by Ting SIM and a 2nd.

Yes, FreedomPop has undergone some changes in ownership and are here to stay for the foreseeable future. We're able to confirm the previous owners of FreedomPop and UNREAL Mobile have agreed to transfer their Sprint partnership and users to Ting. Since FreedomPop has agreed to transfer only their Sprint partnership (CDMA) users to Ting. Be advised, our GSM products (SIM cards) will remain providing service normally.
FreedomPop is a VoIP service. VoIP stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol. Essentially, it means data, or the internet is used for calling and texting instead of the cellular network. Therefore, instead of requiring hardwired phone lines, audio (meaning your voice when you are speaking to someone on your phone) is digitally converted into data and sent over the internet to your person receiving your call. The FreedomPop application is required for your service to work. The FreedomPop app is the connection between our service and your device; it makes service work, calls and texts are through the app.
Please be advised that in order for the SIM card to work the device you use must be GSM unlocked and running operating system Android 4.1 or more recent, and iPhones must be updated to operating system iOS 8.0 or more recent. Check out this link for more information.

If I come back, would I be able to use the SIM that was in my previous phone (that was associated with Freedompop)? If not, can I use my current SIM that Ting sent me? Would I be transferring my number again? If so, how?
If not, it looks like I'd need to spend another $10 (minimum) on a SIM; is that correct? Would I still need to provide top-up credit? Any other things to consider?
