Data-Only SIM - No Activation, Did Not WorkCompleted
I bought a data-only / hotspot SIM directly from FreedomPop. I inserted the SIM into my (non-FreedomPop) hotspot, and configured the APN and rebooted. The hotspot device indicated that the SIM was present, but not activated, and I never was able to get it to establish a cellular data connection. I went to freedompop.com/activate and attempted to enter my SIM's number, and was informed that the number was not correct and could not be activated. Very strange.
I am a pretty tech-savvy guy, but I absolutely could not get this to work. Would like assistance with this. On a more global scale, it seems from these forums like FreedomPop really needs to make improvements to its Byzantine activation process if this many people can't get it to work without resorting to technical support to get the job done.
I just bought 3 sim cards yesterday. apparently you have to really really really follow the steps on the package otherwise it's a dead end. I missed Sim Card #1 because when I tried to follow the steps, it took me to a page where it's asking again for my bank details. I stopped and resulted to the 1-800 for activation. That was a mistake. The bank details is for the $0.99 activation fee. I found out after hours of trying and going back and forth to the same web page over and over and over I just want to bang my head on the wall. I thought maybe I should start over so I opened Sim #2. Still took me some time to activate it because I don't want to mess it up. And presto! I set that up and got a phone number. But the phone number cost me $4.99. And then back to Sim #1. I just want to throw it away but I thought if I don't cancel it, they will continue charging me. And there's no way to cancel it because my account is not popping up!!! Ugh!!!!
You can get a live tech support person but they will charge you for it. You can try that.
