FreedomPop SIM card in unlocked Blu A120: Can't make calls, shows "Emergency Only"

I installed my FPop sim in a Blu A120 phone (factory unlocked) and I am unable to make calls. I checked my account, and it seems like the SIM card is recognized (activated) by Pop; are there any other steps I need to complete to activate?
