Question about free/basic plan
CompletadaHi....I have a question about the free/basic plan. About 18 months ago I bought a FreedomPop Samsung (Android) tablet and signed up for the free/basic plan (I think it was 200 minutes, 500 texts and 500 mb data). One day I tried to use the tablet but it said the phone number had been deactivated or something, so I requested and got a new FreedomPop phone number. Now, when I log in to FreedomPop, it says I have 200 minutes, 500 texts and NO data. I have a few questions:
1) What is the data portion for exactly? If I am near a Wi-Fi network, do I even need the data portion? In other words, can I talk, text and surf the Internet from a Wi-Fi network alone? Is the data portion just for accessing the Internet when you are nowhere near a Wi-Fi network?
2) What can I do to get some data? I don't want to spend a lot of money since my FP phone is more of a backup phone that I don't use very often. Can I buy this 3-in-1 SIM card (below) for $9.99 and if so, is it a one-time charge only (assuming I don't ever go over the data limit)?
3) If I can buy the SIM card, can I keep my current phone number or will I be assigned a new number?
4) Is my old SIM card (that I got from FreedomPop) no longer needed? Just throw it away?
Thanks, Steve
